DALI stands for Digital Addressable Lighting Interface, a standardized digital protocol for controlling and monitoring compatible lighting equipment. It supports functions such as switching, dimming, grouping, and status reporting. DALI is mainly associated with building lighting and should not be assumed to be available on a vehicle work light unless specified. Each addressable device can be assigned to groups and scenes, allowing centralized control without switching the mains supply to every luminaire. DALI communication uses a dedicated control bus and requires compatible control gear. It differs from vehicle-network systems such as CAN bus and from simple analog or PWM dimming, so interface compatibility must be confirmed.
