Dimmable means that a lamp’s light output can be reduced and increased through a compatible control method. Nordic Lights uses pulse width modulation (PWM) for certain dimmable LED lamps. Dimming capability and the permitted control signal are product-specific and must be checked in the technical data. Dimming can reduce glare, adapt illumination to a task, save energy, and manage heat when full output is unnecessary. The control device must be electrically compatible with the lamp; an unsupported method may cause flicker, unstable output, or damage. The useful dimming range and response also depend on the driver and control implementation.
