Halogen

A halogen lamp is an incandescent light source in which a tungsten filament operates inside a gas-filled bulb containing a halogen. It provides immediate light and good color rendering but generally uses more power, produces more heat, and has a shorter service life than an LED work light. The halogen cycle allows the filament to operate at a higher temperature than a conventional incandescent lamp, producing relatively white light from a compact bulb. However, much of the electrical energy becomes heat. In demanding vehicle applications, vibration sensitivity, bulb replacement, power demand, and thermal load are important considerations when comparing halogen with LED technology.
