LED stands for Light Emitting Diode. It is a semiconductor device that emits light when current flows through it. In work lights, LEDs provide compact, directional, energy-efficient illumination and can offer long service life when paired with suitable optics, electronics, and thermal management. Unlike an incandescent filament, an LED produces light through electroluminescence in a semiconductor junction. Its output, color, efficiency, and lifetime depend on junction temperature and drive conditions. In a complete work light, the LED must be combined with a regulated driver, optical system, protective enclosure, sealing, and effective heat dissipation.
