In mining, shovels are large excavation machines that dig and load rock or ore into haul trucks. They may be hydraulic or electric rope shovels. Lighting is required around the bucket, face, loading area, travel path, access points, and service areas. The bucket and working face can be far from the operator, and the loaded material may block sightlines. Lighting needs to reveal digging depth, bucket position, truck alignment, spill areas, and people or equipment nearby. Because shocks, vibration, abrasive dust, and large temperature changes are common, lamps and brackets require robust environmental and mechanical performance.
