EMC stands for electromagnetic compatibility: a product’s ability to operate correctly in its electromagnetic environment without causing unacceptable interference to other equipment. Vehicles contain radios, sensors, control units, communication networks, and other equipment that can be affected by electromagnetic noise. At the same time, the light must tolerate disturbances from alternators, motors, switching devices, and voltage transients. EMC compliance therefore covers both emitted interference and immunity, subject to the scope of the stated test or approval.
