It limits specified hazardous substances; it does not by itself certify overall environmental performance or product quality. The directive covers defined categories of equipment placed on the EU market and sets maximum concentration values for restricted substances in homogeneous materials, subject to scope and exemptions. Compliance is normally supported through supply-chain declarations, material information, and technical documentation. RoHS is separate from REACH, recycling obligations, quality management, and product performance testing.
