A rubber-tired gantry crane (RTG) is a mobile gantry crane that runs on tires and straddles container rows in a terminal. It lifts, moves, and stacks containers. Lighting supports travel lanes, container alignment, lifting operations, access areas, and nearby personnel. Unlike a rail-mounted gantry, an RTG can reposition between container blocks using its tire-mounted undercarriage. Operators work at height and must align the spreader accurately while monitoring traffic below. Lighting should cover the trolley and spreader, container tops and corners, travel lanes, wheels, stairs, service areas, and the surrounding terminal without excessive glare.
